Collection: Croaking Frog Guiros

Run the wooden striker down the ridged back and the frog croaks — a daft, satisfying noise that nobody can resist trying. Each guiro is hand-carved from acacia or rain tree wood in northern Thailand, in sizes from mini to medium, plain or finished in a crackle-painted rainbow. Part instrument, part fidget, wholly good fun.

What Is a Croaking Frog Guiro?

A guiro is a percussion instrument played by scraping a stick across a ridged surface — and the frog guiro turns that idea into something genuinely delightful. Run the wooden striker down the ridges of the frog's back and it produces a remarkably realistic croak; tap the striker on its head for a hollow pock. Children are transfixed by them, and so, quietly, are most adults.

Ours are hand-carved in northern Thailand from acacia and rain tree wood, in sizes from mini to medium, either left natural or finished in a bright crackle-painted rainbow. Each comes with its wooden striker. Part musical instrument, part fidget toy, wholly hard to put down.

If you like instruments with character, our smoking dragon incense burners and wooden music clips are worth a look too.
