How to use it
Hold the frog by the base in one hand. Run the wooden beater up the ridges along its back, away from you, in one steady stroke.

The croak comes from the speed, not the pressure. Slow and firm sounds more like a frog than fast and hard.

Tapping the beater on the top of the head gives you a hollow knock to punctuate it.

Rain Tree wood frog guiro with striker resting on wooden surface, front three-quarter view, northern Thailand

A frog carved from Rain Tree wood with a row of ridges along its back and a hollow body that resonates when played. Run the included stick along the ridges from back to front for a deep croak; tap the head for a sharp pock. Made in northern Thailand, where this form has been a standard of the carver's repertoire for decades. Comes in its own printed box. Works as a percussion instrument and sits well on a desk.

Each frog is carved by hand, so weight and grain vary slightly.
