Hand-carved, so no two are the same

What are these small wood carvings?

These are hand-carved animals and figures cut from pale Albizia and other Indonesian woods. Most are left in a natural finish so the grain shows through. A few pieces are painted: the owl in broad bands of colour, the toucan in brighter tones, and the fairy door. The collection ranges from wolves and hares to sea creatures like dolphins, sharks and turtles, alongside cats, hedgehogs, dragons, a squirrel, rabbit, frog and bird.

Each carving is worked by hand, which means no two are quite the same. The pieces vary in size from pocket-sized miniatures to ones that sit comfortably in a palm. This variation is part of what you get when wood moves through individual hands rather than a production line. At under £4 to start, they work well as stocking fillers, party bag gifts or pocket-money finds.
