Small Wood Carvings

Small carved animals and figures, most of them cut from pale Albizia and other Indonesian woods and left in a natural finish so the grain does the work. A hare sitting up with its nose raised to the moon. A wolf with its head tipped back mid-howl, in three sizes. Cats, one sitting with its eyes closed and one rolled onto its back. A hedgehog with its spines cut as a close diamond pattern.

From the sea there are dolphins arching off a carved wave, a shark with its jaw open and a turtle. Elsewhere a seated dragon, a squirrel, a rabbit, a round-bodied bird, a frog crouched low, a painted toucan, a rustic owl in broad bands of colour, and a small arched fairy door for the bottom of the garden.

Most sit comfortably in a palm and start at £3.99, which makes them useful as stocking fillers, party bags and pocket-money gifts. Each is carved by hand, so no two are identical.
