Painted wooden elephant calendar with rotating date blocks showing September, side view on white

A carved wooden elephant, painted grey and decorated with chevrons, leaf motifs and bright folk detail, carrying a set of rotating date blocks on its back. Made in Indonesia, where this style of painted woodwork is a long-standing workshop trade. The blocks turn by hand each day: two number cubes and a month bar, good for every year. Sits solidly on a desk or shelf, low and compact.

Each one is carved and painted by hand, so no two are identical.
