A small chest-shaped wooden box on bracket feet, carved on every surface with diamonds and flowers in relief, the wood stained deep brown so the cut lines read almost black. The lid is hinged and sits at a slight pitch, giving it the look of a miniature trunk. Made in Indonesia in the same tradition of geometric floral relief carving found across the archipelago. Inside: a single smooth compartment, plain and unlined. Brass toggle clasp at the front.
Solid in the hand. Sits well on a dressing table or beside a bed.
