A miniature Raintree elephant, carved and finished by hand in a village outside Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. The wood runs from pale golden-brown to near-black where the grain deepens, and the close-grained hardness holds the small tusk and eye detail cleanly at this scale. Light enough to sit in a palm. Finds a place on a desk, a shelf, or grouped with others.
Each piece passes through several hands in the carving and finishing, so no two are identical in grain or tone.
