A wooden box finished in matte black, the lid painted with a pentacle in silver and white: a five-pointed star within a rope-bordered circle, the segments filled with knotwork and spiral detail. Made in Bali, Indonesia, where this style of painted wood box is produced in small workshops. The sides are plain black. Inside, the compartment is smooth and unlined, holds jewellery, small objects, or a set of cards.
The painted design is applied by hand; line weight and detail vary slightly between pieces.
