Carved painted face mask on driftwood stack, dark grey with gold eyes, Indonesia

A round-bodied fish carved from wood and painted in crackled bands of slate, orange, red and olive, balanced on a stacked column of driftwood pieces. The base is assembled from found driftwood, each stack different in shape and height. Made in Indonesia, where this kind of assembled natural sculpture is a workshop staple. The whole piece stands around 29cm and works well on a sideboard or console table.

The driftwood base means no two are identical in form or balance.
