What wood are these angels carved from?

The smaller angels are cut from pale albizia, a timber that takes fine detail and holds a light, even tone. The largest 40cm figure is carved from rain tree, which is denser and runs darker through the heart, giving it weight and presence. Each piece is finished by hand in Indonesia, so the grain and colour shift subtly from one carving to the next.

The four sizes stack or stand alone, letting you build a group over time or display them as a single statement. The design works in suggestion rather than detail, with wings and robes implied by the sweep and flow of the wood itself. An angel puzzle box and a bamboo root duckling in wings complete the collection, both carved with the same attention to grain and finish.
