Collection: Wooden Ducks

Ducks carved from bamboo root, which is the dense, knotted base of the bamboo plant and the part most harvesters throw away. Every root grows into a different shape, so no two ducks stand quite the same way. Some are left bare and unvarnished so the grain shows through. Others are hand-painted in Bali into a whole cast of characters: a pirate on a peg leg, a punk in a red mohawk, a beekeeper under a net veil, a gardener in a straw hat, and a bride and groom. Alongside them sit two small duck carvings in pale Albizia, quieter in style and sized for a shelf or windowsill. Sizes run from a 9cm duckling up to a 45cm bird standing on turned legs.
